Accessible Courts Initiative introduced at Court Technology Conference 10
The Accessible Courts Initiative is a mutual effort between the Center for Legal and Court Technology and the American Foundation for the Blind Consulting Group focused on eliminating the barriers in the nation's state and federal courts that prevent persons with disabilities from participating fully in the justice system.
Still in the founding stages, experts in the fields of law, technology and disability advocacy, some of whom are themselves disabled, have assembled to provide customized, prioritized solutions to purveyors of the justice system.
A number of services are in the development stage. However, ACI experts are immediately available for the review of public-facing Websites to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilties Act, for in-house accessibility sensitizing for existing facilities, and ongoing support and consultation for specific issues or new programs.
